Do you know what a heat shield is? Do you want to know? If so then this is the perfect blog for you. A heat shield is something that people use to keep spaceships from burning up in the atmosphere.

My science teacher challenged my class to build a heat shield that can protect an egg from cooking even though a blow torch would be on it. The items we were allowed to use ranged from lasagna to metal. We performed tests on different materials to see if they worked well with the heat.

My group and I created a prototype that we were happy with. Then we had the real test done with a blow torch against the heat shield, which was protecting our egg. Unfortunately, our egg had TWO millimeters of cooking! We learned from our experiences of what went wrong and what we could’ve fixed if we did it again!
